  • The Partnership and Engagement Advisor is the focal person in Plan international's southern interventions to coordinate and manage ongoing interventions within Plan International and also technically support local implementing partners and hence expected to possess extensive professional knowledge and experience in project management, coordination and proven track record in closely working with different actors including the government, clusters and donor engagement.

KRA 1: Relations with Government/Business opportunities/donors networking

- Build and maintain strong relations with relevant Line Ministries, UN Agencies, INGOs, Somaliland NGOs and other key stakeholders.

The MIDA advisor assisted the implementation of the JICA YEPS under the supervision of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI). The Advisor is required to closely work the Japanese Consultants, who are based in Kenya or Japan, JICA Kenya office as well as the IOM project team and other MIDA Advisors dispatched under the JICA YEPS project.

The Advisor particularly supported with the planning, implementing and follow up on the workshops on capacity development of stat-ups and MSMEs in Somalia, which will further be required to collect and analyze the necessary any information for JICA YEPS project activities and other activities by MOCI which will support start-ups and MSMEs in Somalia when especially requested.

Ø Supported the MOCI to identify the potential start-ups and MSMEs that contribute to creating more job opportunities for the youth in close communication/collaboration with Japanese consultants’ team of JICA YEPS project and other concerned ministries.

Ø Led formalization of SMEs policy frame work implementations and start-ups ACT that will create enabling environment to entrepreneurship.

Ø Collected and analyzed necessary information for JICA YEPS project activities and share it with recipient Ministries, JICA and YEPS project particularly in terms of start-ups and SMEs development TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training and Youth Employment Promotion.

Ø Provided policy and technical advice to MOCI for mapping the start-ups ecosystem in Somalia and facilitating coordination among Start-ups and MSMEs stakeholders.

Ø Assisted administrative and logistical procedures of programmes to be conducted in the third countries according to the JICA YEPS project.

Ø Assisted monitoring and follow up of activities of the workshop participants after they go back to Somalia by collecting questionnaires and conducting interviews.
